The Domain Listings Scam

8

If you ever see one of these come in the mail, it is a scam. Scam companies will crawl the internet with thousands of bots to find your information and send out these fictitious “bills”. Contact information about domains is publicly available knowledge, and companies like this exploit this information. Pay them no mind and dispose of their letters.

If you don’t know what to do:

  • Talk to your hosting provider or IT team. They will know if your domain name is ready for renewal.
  • Be suspicious of unexpected invoices from companies you aren’t familiar with.
  • Protect yourself with domain name security.

If you are interested in signing up with a Domain Registrar that provides a name privacy service, we recommend Namecheap.
